Chiropractic Care
at Two Hands
Chiropractic care consists mostly of chiropractic adjustments, which are a well-established and effective therapy used to relieve pain, stabilize and mobilize joints, stimulate the nervous system and promote optimal body function. Chiropractic adjustments are gentle and specific manual manipulations to various joints of the body, especially the spine. Our doctors use a combination of chiropractic adjusting techniques to fit our patients’ needs, including Diversified technique, tool-assisted adjusting, and drop table adjusting. While chiropractic adjustments are a central part of our patient care here at Two Hands we also use conventional methods of diagnosis such as a detailed patient history, physical exam, X-rays, MRIs, as well as, lab testing to properly diagnose your specific ailment and in turn recommend the best treatment options for you.
How does it work?
Chiropractic adjustments work by correcting subluxations. Subluxations are a complex of functional, structural, and/or pathological changes to a joint which cause the loss of proper movement resulting in inflammation. This inflammation can press on the nerve as it leaves the the spine and cause pain, reduced range of motion, and muscle tension. By palpation of the joint and surrounding tissues, and also a number of orthopedic tests the Doctor may give the diagnosis of a subluxation. Once a subluxation has been diagnosed it can be treated by a Chiropractic adjustment. Our doctors will gently administer an adjustment which will result in the restoration of proper joint movement. This will reduce pressure on the nerve and allow for the reduction of pain, inflammation and muscle tension. It is typical for the patient to feel some relief after one treatment, however, a number of repeat treatments are necessary for long-term results.
